It was a good morning's work for Rumney RFC u10s at Cowbridge RFC. Three matches played; three wins achieved, all against very good opposition. First up for Rumney were a Cowbridge RFC side who had recently defeated Rumney 15-5 at the Llandaff Festival. Playing to their strengths - with a quick passing style - Rumney dominated in most phases of play and ran in 5 unanswered tries to win 25-0. In the second match, against another Cowbridge RFC team Rumney continued playing to their strengths and scored two tries while keeping out Cowbridge to prevail 10-0. The final match was a belter, against a very good South Gower RFC u10s side. In a tight first half Rumney conceded an early try to go behind before scoring to tries of their own to lead 10-5 at half-time. The second half was also a tight affair as both sides tried to gain the upper-hand at the breakdown. Eventually, Rumney's pressing defence paid off as they secured two vital turnovers to score twice. South Gower rallied, but the Rumney defence held firm to prevent any further score.
Results: Cowbridge RFC 0, Rumney RFC 25; Cowbridge RFC 0, Rumney 10; South Gower RFC 5, Rumney 20.
