The U13s had a much needed, moral boosting win at Pentyrch. The game started positively, with good interplay between backs and forwards, coupled with excellent defence against quick opposition wingers. The game's first try was scored by Issac Laroche with one of his typical runs following a good build up. Ciaran Brazier converted. Further attacks by Rumney followed and only a confusing 5 metre line stopped new boy Alex Lia in the centre scoring on his debut. His enthusiasm and determination going forward and particularly in defence suggest that he will be a very positive addition to the team. Pentyrch pressed on a number of occasions, but were unable to break down the Rumney defence. When they did get through, the back three of Zak Kelly, Will Giles and Shayne Collier comfortably contained them with some excellent tackles. The second half started with Rumney ringing the changes. James Ramsey in the back row was outstanding in this period, with several big runs and tackles. Further tries were added; another by Issac Laroche, comfortably converted by Ciaran Brazier, who had a very good game at outside half and a final try by man of the match Dylan Murphy who finished off a very good move culminating in a great pass from wing Zak Kelly, allowing him to charge over from 25 metres beating several would be tacklers on his way over.
