2nds win close encounter v Brecon

Rumney welcomed Brecon to Riverside Park two weeks after being on the receiving end of a heavy defeat to them. Rumney started brightly and made some good yards with strong carries from hooker Owain Hill & number 8 Anthony Wilson, however, Rumneys discipline was costing them and Brecon slotted a penalty to go 3-0 up. Rumney responded well but were forced in to an early change with Captain Charlie Barrett going off with an ankle injury and being replaced by James Skene who was playing his first game since August. Skene made an immediate impact with a huge hit and followed by a period of sustained Rumney pressure Skene bulldozed his way over to score, converted successfully by Danny Clark making the half time score Rumney 7 Brecon 6.

The second half started as the first half ended with Rumney having a lot of ball with more strong carries from props Deryn Hewings and Jon De Lloyd but they couldn't covert territory into points. Brecon also enjoyed some posession in spells and were able to score a converted try bringing the score to 13-10 with about 20 to play. With time ticking Rumney were camped on Brecons line and with a dominant scrum they looked destined to score a pushover try. Brecons resilience paid off though and they temporarily cleared their lines. Rumney came back at them and brilliant hands between Skene and replacement Hooker Jacob Hurley allowed winger Jake Sutton to score in the corner, Rumney 15 - Brecon 13. Ill discipline started creeping in from Brecon and experienced Fly Half Danny Clark slotted a penalty to make it 18-13 and eventually see out the game.

A great performance from all the boys, special mentions to James Skene, Nathan Renshaw and Anthony Wilson who were all outstanding but today's man of the match was Owain Hill.
