Rumney 2nds had the slope advantage  from kick off against Rhiwbina III and immediately put the hosts under pressure. A determined forward drive took play to the home 25 m line and an offside infringement resulted in outside half Danny Clark slotting a penalty to put Rumney ahead by 3 points to nil. Rumney kept up the pressure with great work by hooker Owain Hill and winger Scott Cope taking play into the Rhiwbina half. A sharp bout of passing involved Danny Clark , Lawrence Facey and Dan Griffiths before fullback Dan McCormack raced through to touch down wide out for a well taken , unconverted try.   The second half saw Rhiwbina up their game and their forwards took advantage of poor tackling to drive over for a try to make the score 10 - 5 to Rumney. Rumney hit back straight away with Danny Clark linking with Dan McCormack who set off on an angled run before a  lovely dummy saw him go over for his second try, converted by Danny Clark to put Rumney ahead by 17 points to 5.  Rhiwbina again hit back and after a  sustained period of pressure on the Rumney line were awarded a penalty try for a Rumney forward killing the ball . Danny Clark pegged Rhiwbina back with some good line kicking and strong running from Lawrence Facey took play back up field where after good pressure and support from Anthony Leach , second row Sean Murphy pounced on a loose ball to dive over . Danny Clark converted to put Rumney 22 -12 ahead . Rhiwbina still looked to run the ball at every opportunity but good defence , notably from centre Dan Griffiths, kept them at bay. Fullback Dan McCormack was again involved as he broke away before chipping ahead for wing Dan Blakemore to chase and touch down for a well taken try converted by Danny Clark to give Rumney victory by 29 points to 12.
